Our Partners & Community
Our Community
We are working with educators, journalists, policy makers, science communicators, and scientists to pilot unique projects that spread the excitement of scientific curiosity, combat misinformation, and show the relevance of scientific insights to individuals and communities.
The Open Notebook
The Open Notebook (TON) is a non-profit organization that provides tools and resources to help science, environmental, and health journalists at all experience levels sharpen their skills. SLF provided TON with a grant to pilot a program to mentor reporters in regional media outlets that have limited resources for dedicated science coverage. The goal is to bring thoughtful, informed reporting to the science-news desert.
The News Literacy Project
The News Literacy Project (NLP) is a nonpartisan national education nonprofit that provides programs and resources for educators and the public to teach, learn, and share the abilities needed to be smart, active consumers of news and information and equal and engaged participants in democracy. SLF is consulting with NLP to help them develop three new lessons plans designed to help middle and high schoolers become savvy consumers of data and science media.
